A biennial sidebar in 2019 and 2017 of radical and experimental moving image programming for the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, in collaboration with VCA Film & Television, supported by University of Melbourne.
Mx. Anna Helme curated a panel, skill-sharing session and short-film program for each biennial.
For Wildings 2019 we were very lucky to have the fantastic FTV alum and lecturer/tutor Emmett Aldred conduct the skill-share Making Films With Friends and Queer Family along with our wonderful international guest, queer moving image maker and curator Finn Grey Paul who presented his shorts program Desire and Resistance: Unearthing Trans Legacies including the work of filmmaker/artists such as Zackary Drucker and Malic Amalya. FTV Breadth Sessional Lecturer (Editing) Anna Brownfield presented the panel Can Love (and Sex) Change the World?, which also included the brilliant Nayuka Gorrie, Adolfo Aranjuez and Chloe Alison Escott. Amanda Barbour (Senses of Cinema, Lidia Thorpe) was our genius communications whizz, and outrageously talented illustrator Lachlan Conn created our logo.
Wildings 2017’s skill-share and panel included moving image & performance artists Justin Shoulder, Bhenji Ra and the work of artist/filmmakers inc. Zach Blas and Atong Atem. 2017’s program included an experimental filmmaking skillshare, short film program and panel of moving image makers and emerging academics, discussing the relationship between experimentation and failure in queer aesthetic production.
